Goodbye Moho!

Today the Moho went off with its new owners! A sad but good day, since we weren't using it much any more, and the new owners are very excited about it!

After our trip, we moved to Bishop, where Devin got a job at the hospital as IT Systems Administrator. We continued living in the RV at Highlands RV Park for about a year and a half, saving money to buy a house. The RV was nice and roomy for travel and camping; you know the old saying, "a rolling stone gathers no moss"? Well, we weren't rolling any more, and we were definitely gathering "moss"! Devin was working, I was taking classes and the dinette became my study - in the winter it was pretty cold and we kept all the curtains closed - the walls were closing in after a while. As you can imagine, after we moved into our new house, we weren't that interested in getting back in the RV for a while - ha.

In the 5 years since then, we've probably used the RV only a few times a year at best, and last year we may have only taken it out once. It was great to get up to Mammoth and stay at Shady Rest for the weekend in the summer when it was too hot in Bishop, or Coldwater Camp with friends, or the June Lake Triathlon with friends, and a few other local weekend trips.

But our needs have changed, and while our faithful Moho was wonderful for our long trip, we need something a little smaller, and also more accessible. When we started this, Devin was walking with a cane or crutches, and now he mostly uses a wheelchair. He also had back surgery recently, making getting in and out of the tall Class A RV even MORE difficult - we need something that BOTH of us can use and enjoy.

We dream of getting a Sprinter van (Mercedes or Dodge - same thing) or maybe one of the new Ford Transit vans when they come out in the extended length... and then fixing it up ourselves from scratch. We'd love a Sportsmobile, of course, but they are way too expensive, so ours will be "custom" and be a work in progress - at first probably we'll throw in an inflatable bed on the floor and regular tent camping gear, and go from there! We may be RV-less for a while, too. Or we may get something inexpensive to tide us over, like a little trailer. We'll see.

We'll definitely be going back to the RV Show this October to check out our options!!

See you down the road...

Happy Trails!!
